Question of purchasing a Peahen from a breeder

I am looking at buying a White Peahen from Bruce Siltanen in Minnesota. Has anyone bought from him before? Is he a good person to buy from? Thanks in advance!

We bought a cameo silver pied yearling hen from him for $350. About a year or so later she began to go blind.

Contacted him twice afterwards, once when she started going blind and again to give him a heads up on the complete blindness and of the cameo death gene.
She is now completely blind.

He never responsed to either inquiry.
As a serious breeder he should have been concerned, and at least responded. And instead perpetuate the deadly disease/ gene by ignoring it.

Brad has great birds, you will not find better birds , you make get one cheaper.

bigcreek has great birds too.

Is Craig Hopkins a good one? He said he has a 1 year old white hen but not 100% sure on sex. Can I trust him that I will be a hen?

I figured he would be a good one. The only thing I'm worried about is that it will end up being a male, then I will have to sell it. Do you think if he says its female it will end up being one? The white hen is a 1 year old.

Craig should know this time of year if the white is a hen.....just ask again if he can be sure.

if i can find some peach hens at the auction. i could sell you my breeder white hen , 3 yr old.

Craig has been at this for quite a while so I would say he is right more often then not. You could ask him if they will DNA sex them at your cost. Whites are tough as young birds and you have to look more at structure, legs, and spur bumps rather than color/pattern. Most people will not confidently sex a white prior to 1 year.

He did say that this one is smaller than the rest and has no spur bumps yet. So I am guessing he is right. Thanks for your help!
