Question of the Day - Friday, February 14th, 2025

I’m not sure I have anything unique now, but I have a good story about my bucket list..

I had several things on my bucket list I wanted to do before I turned 40. The items left were - go to Vegas, go to New York, ride in a hot air balloon, and get a tattoo. Two months before my birthday, my friend won a trip to Vegas and her husband couldn’t go, so she asked me.

A couple of weeks later, my best friend and I decided to head to New York and see Cursed Child on Broadway. Day of my birthday, I am sitting at my kids football and cheer on practice talking to my mom about how I didn’t get to “check off” the hot air balloon and tattoo.

We are sitting there and a local hot air balloon team pulls into the park. I seriously thought my mom set it up for me. (This was my first birthday after my divorce.) The pilot and helpers started getting everything out and I walked over there. They told me they had an inspection that day and had to repack everything correctly. As more and more kids came over, they made the decision to tether the basket and take some of the kids up.

I was so excited! My kids got to go up and we were allowed to help “hold” the balloon ropes. When all the kids had turns, he asked if any “big kids” wanted a ride. I was the first adult in the basket! It was amazing! Best birthday ever. (And no, mom didn’t arrange it. lol)

I literally checked one more thing off my bucket list the evening of my birthday. The only thing left was get a tattoo. Trust me, I thought about stopping and getting one on the way home that night, but I didn’t.

I am going to be 47 this year, and I still haven’t gotten one.

For AZ, Phx Zoo, Wildlife World Zoo (both metro Phx) and Out of Africa in Prescott are all awesome.

The San Diego Zoo and Wild Animal Park are exceptional for CA.
Have been to Out of Africa a couple times already. Very impressed every time we go. My son was young the last time we went and the hyenas kept following him up and down the fence line, you could tell they wanted him, and not to play! If we did ever go to California, it would be simply to go to the San Diego Zoo. Thanks for the suggestions!
