Never once in my entire life have I been pulled over for something hanging from my mirror. Like, I can see how it could be a hazard if it's obstructing your view or could become a projectile in a collision for sure. But I had no idea it was illegal.

Well, you could probably wrap the chains around the mirror support a few times and it won't be in your way.
