Question of the Day - Saturday, April 6th, 2024

Also as a FYI to everyone on Windows 10: you have until October 2025 to either install Linux alongside or get a new computer. Most modern computers can run Linux just fine and would keep ewaste out of landfills if people use it instead of buying a whole new machine.

Windows 10 will no longer receive updates on October 25, 2025 (I think).
Ain't there windows eleven?
(pardon my bad English! :))

So, can you not just upgrade or do you have to buy a new computer?
It depends on the age of your computer and your specific hardware. MS has added some hurdles to upgrading in the name of "better security" which include specific types of hard drive configuration and having built-in security modules in the hardware or firmware that many older systems do not have.

You can get around the requirement with a little know-how but it invalidates your Windows license and MS will block system updates to your windows 11 install.

So if you have an older system, maybe not. If it's 2-3 years old, you're probably fine.

Sucks.
