Question of the Day - Saturday, August 9th, 2025

Our garden has no fence so the chickens go to the neighbours every now and then. Normally they don’t mind, and are amused by the visit if the chickens come over, but sometimes it’s a bit too much. Like when the neighbour who has strawberries comes over to complain.

And some of the neighbours started to complain the times I had a cockerel, who starts to crow before their alarm clock.

We always lock the chickens in the run when we have guests to avoid awkward situations. Once a guest came with his dog (on a leash) and the chickens fledged onto the run and over the hedge. He felt guilty and never came unexpected around the back with his dog, ever after.

I have, too.

Talking about chickens too much to our guests, and my children start to apologise on my behalf to them.
