There are some amazing cemeteries here. It's one of the few perks of being a NYC suburb.

Those are incredible. I haven't seen many as detailed as that. What are the characters at the top of the first one?

I dunno...One of my favorite places is Ausable Marsh in northeastern NY. There is a footpath that goes straight through the marsh which allows for great views of marsh birds.

I was thinking that, because of the German surnames.

I can imagine NYC must have some interesting cemeteries. I wonder if any of the original Dutch settlers’ graves still exist?

Forsythe NWR in NJ is beautiful like that. You can see a lot of shore birds and migrating ducks and such.

The oldest stones in the city date to around 1700. Here in the Jersey suburbs, it's similar. They used a lot of marble, though, which deteriorated in many places, so old stones can be very hard to read.
