Question of the Day - Saturday, July 19th, 2025

Considering I'd rather not be electrocuted, no. I once had lightning strike 5ft in front of me when I was 8, like 30ft from me when I got caught in a storm a few weeks ago and never mind all the times lightning struck mere feet away while inside, I've seen firsthand how going outside when it's thundering is a very bad idea

I will provide a visual response as an answer.

If you can hear thunder, lightning can strike you, so no. Although... well yes I have in an emergency and then I pray like crazy!
Indeed! I was born in Florida which is often called the lightning capital of the world so lightning safety was drilled into me from a young age, the TV wasn't even allowed to be on if it was thundering even a little bit, never mind going outside. The incident that happened when I was 8 happened because a storm came over as I was walking home from school (storms can come out of nowhere), if I had been going a bit faster the story would have had a different ending

We must not be known for lightning here.
All I remember being told was not to be out in an aluminum jon boat or swinging a golf club during thunderstorms.
