I'm the woodstove fire builder 90% of the time, and 1 match is enough.

If not, either it isn't drawing, or you didn't stack up the ingredients correctly.

If you're into camping/outdoors-ing, and want some easy fire starters:

1:
Cotton balls rubbed with petroleum Jelly. Store in a ziplock baggie. Easy to light, burn for a few minutes allowing you to feed your fire, and resist moisture. lightweight and easy to stick in a backpack for longer hikes.

2.
Paper Egg carton (not polystyrene), stuffed with dryer lint and /or sawdust. Drizzle in candle wax to hold the lint, but make sure some sticks out. Light. Also stores well in a ziplock. one egg carton makes 12 (or more) fire starters. Also packs well on hiking trips.

Yes I can,I truly thought it was just common knowledge till recently. I've known and done it ever since I was young, plenty of camp fires.

Even though we have a ferro rod and lighter and saw dust drying, I think I'll make some of the fire starters w lint/wax. I'll have to clean my 80 year old brother's dryer to get it. He'll be glad because several years ago, he told me the dryer was broken. I went to look at it, well the lint screen was full, so full there was a ton of lint below. I had to get a coat hanger to get it out. It was matted. After a thorough cleaning, the dryer worked. I would bet he has plenty of lint.
They will be added to the backpack.

No. I've never used flint and steel (nor have I actually seen it), and me and matches don't get along (it might be because I never have good ones). I typically use the long lighters.
