What's the longest you've ever had the same job?

I've been in-house tech support for my family for around 7 years at this point .

As have I for about 4 years.

11 years with the hospital laboratory. Different positions: 7 years as a medical laboratory scientist on the bench, 4 years next month as a laboratory information system specialist.

How much of a pain is it? Most of the time I don't have to do much, but trying to explain a problem to someone who isn't the most up-to-date on tech is a pain sometimes.

Try explaining that no, Dad, you can't use the computer because the power's out(no internet). Or the fact that you can have more than one tab or window open at once.

Asking about specific roll/job title within the company? A little over 6 years.

He probably grew up when multitasking didn't really work well. Just wait until he hears about octa-core CPUs that can handle a ton of open windows.
