Late 1800s. It was the height of architecture, literature, and politeness, I think.

I booked a flight for Jan 1, 2000. I had an entire row to myself, it was so empty. The flight attendants had a handful of people each. Best flight I ever had. Y2K was so overhyped.

Now. I mean, we have problems, but generally things are decent. At least I don't have to worry about dying from an infection or coal lung.

All eras have pluses and minuses. If I got to choose who I was and the people around me, I would probably choose differently than if I couldn't.
