30 minutes away, would cut school when swell was coming in for surfin' beaches from Maine to Florida, Hilton Head was the worst, Air temp 98, ocean temp 86-89 and the humidity99%. Nice if you're a lizard. Also Sattahip, Thailand.

I've been to the beach in California.

Do lake beaches count? I’ve been to four of the Great Lakes as well as the Gulf of Mexico. Also the Atlantic Ocean in both New England and Florida, and Pacific Ocean in California.

A few hundred times. At one time went every weekend. Mostly Alabama and Florida, but also have been to North and South Carolina beaches. It never gets old, but I will always prefer the mountains.

Yes, in Texas, Florida, and Louisiana, but the most impressive beach I've been to was when we camped on Lake Michigan. Oceans are one thing; you know what to expect when someone describes an ocean. But growing up and learning about the great lakes does not prepare you for what they actually are. Yes, people point out they're massive, but in your head you're still picturing a typical lake. And then one day you travel North, and BAM! There it is in front of you - not a lake, but an inland, freshwater ocean. There are huge waves! And sand dunes! And types of boats you've only ever seen in the gulf! What's more, just like at the beach of an ocean, you can't see beyond what seems like an infinity of water. Growing up, Lake Texhoma was what I knew as a an example of a large lake. Nothing had prepared me for experiencing a great lake.

I've been to the beach in Washington a lot, since we used to live fifteen minutes from the Strait.

Yes, we try for a family trip to the coast at least once a year. And I've been to a few amazing beaches in New Caledonia too.
