Question of the Day - Thursday, May 29th, 2025

My poor rooster gets mosquito bites on his comb every night. I have screens on the coop, but they still get in somehow. View attachment 4136397
Have you try mosquito coils?

We have a lot of rain and in our summer also have lots of mosquito. I put out 1 mosquito coil each night.
My first flock of chickens got bitten by mosquito and they all end up with dry fowl pox, it was hard work treating the whole flock with cream.
After I put out mosquito coils and it seems to work.

I have a chair in the run that I sit in for about an hour in the afternoon. I turn it upside down when I leave so that they can't poop on it.

When it's cold, I sit in the coop with them. I fold an empty feed bag in half and sit on that, and I store that where they can't get to it so that it stays clean.

Chicken time is my time.

Yes! Especially if I’m sad; they will come and pick at my boots and cheer me up. 🥲
Once I was sitting on the rocks beside our driveway, feeling blue; I felt something warm and squishy on my bare feet, so I looked up and it was Dilly the Brahma with her great flappy Brahma paws standing on my feet. 🥹

I want my dad to build me a chair in the coop that folds out from the wall like a bunk on a ship. That way the birds couldn’t poop on it!
