Question of the Day - Thursday, September 19th, 2024

I was in between jobs having just been laid off so I was sleeping that morning. My sister came running into my room and said something funky was happening in New York. We turned on the tv and watched the second plane hit and everything else that happened. Crazy times

I was sleeping in my carrier while my parents were praying in church. They had no clue. Then a lady came running into church screaming that the towers just been attacked. My parents though she was nutty in the head and kept on praying. When they got home they turned on the TV and couldn't believe it.
I would of kept on praying as well!

We were visiting friends in NY state getting ready to take a train trip to Canada. Instead we spent the day watching television and being emotional. In the afternoon we took a trip through the Catskills - stopped at a bar/restaurant, and friend's wife and I had sardine sandwiches on rye bread. How weird that I remember that?

The next day we headed for home avoiding the thruways. I was thrilled and impressed at the number of homes flying the flag.

That year, most of the Christmas decorations were red, white, and blue.

I remember the flags still at half staff in November or December. Our route to work went through Ada, MI, home of Amway, yes, that Amway. They have the flags of 20? 25? different countries in front of the building, but had replaced them all with American flags, all at half staff, all lit from below.

It was pouring rain. It looked like the flags were weeping.

At work. Someone saw it on the internet when the first plane hit tower. Then we all jumped on to search to see what happened. Terrible.

I had a 5 month old baby and he had been up most of the night previously sick. So he and I were napping when my wife came in to wake me up. We had telco gear in the basement of Tower 1 and lost 2 coworkers that morning. Could have been worse, My company had leased offices in tower 2 up until July of 2011. 75 people from our marketing team worked there.
