Yes. I'd bet a lot of us have famous distant relatives we aren't aware of. Particularly if our families have long histories in the area/country we currently live in. Here's a few of mine

Not that I'm aware, I've never done the research. Now, my great grandmother could recite her linage back to the ship after the mayflower, did we ever write that down? No, of course not.
And my dad's side is mostly central European immigrants fleeing one thing or another within the last two centuries.

My family's been here since the 1640's. Not a lot of familial diversity in early Colonial America, so "I got connections"

My Dad spent many years tracing our roots, back to the early 1500's in England. It gets harder from there as lots of records were lost or burned over time. I've been working on Mom's side as well, it's a bit harder to navigate. Dang Scots-Irish and their hard-to-pronounce names coming through Ellis.

Ha, nice lineup! I was just going with the most recognizable modern one for brevity's sake. But yeah, I suspect most people couldn't throw a rock into their family tree without hitting several famous folks of one sort or another.

You mean, you have a have a hard time pronouncing names with no vowels? And are just a bunch of gs and ns? For shame.
I once moved a lady that had traced her family line to before the Black Plague, it took her decades. But she was the only surving child, and never had kids so it kinda looked pointless to me
