No longer have a landline because they got too greedy or maybe they wanted to get rid of their customers.
Magazines are the same way; I have unsubscribed to several magazines because they went all digital. You would think they would keep the paper option available for those who want to read it in order to retain some of their audience...

No, they don't for the sake of the "environment." As far as the phones, I'm not sure, but with the magazines, it's probably just easier to do it online. Then if it's anything like the newspapers, so many people are subscribing online that it's now costing the company more to print a few newspapers and to keep someone willing enough to drive miles to drop off one.

Do however still have a box full of landline phones. One wall phone is even still plugged in.
Yes, they are trying to drive everyone away from them. They want them to go completely away. I mean as far as the POTS lines go, that is. They have stopped maintaining the copper and raised the prices to accomplish this.

funny story, i don't have a landline but my house may be on one of those old neighbourhood shared lines cause the old rotary phone that came with the basement rings sometimes. Can't unplug it since it's built in the wall so I treat it the same i do my mobile phone when it rings: ignore it.
But might be useful in case of an emergency?

I would have to answer that. It might be aliens or even someone from the future trying to contact you.

But, if you want to get it off the wall you should be able to slide it up to unlatch it. It might me snug since it has been on there awhile.

And yet they are advertising Internet deals but you have to bundle a landline phone package to get the Internet deals.
