Uh, I remember destroying a few of my parents' floppy disks when I was a little kid.....I never actually used a floppy disk myself though

tape backup systems and even they're fading.

Is tape backup still in use?

The (unpublished) novel I wrote has a tape backup system (important to the plot) but I've given up on rewriting the book because I don't know how to make it work with another system.

Whenever I built a computer, I always added an internal 31/2. I even remember back in the day of having dual 3 1/2 drives I added a 5 1/4 until I no longer used any of those disks I had around with programs on them. Basically, it was just so the computer would be ready for anything but most often, they were never used. I remember the first time I had a program so big it required two 3.5" drives. I bought the computer I'm using now as a refurbished business computer, and it has no floppy. I'm really happy with flash drives.
Those days are long gone and I just recently was cleaning up and threw away all the 3.5 disks.

Just so we're all clear here. We're talking about this kind of 3.5" drive.

That takes this kind of floppy.

Not this kind.

Which isn't floppy at all.

Hard drives primarily come in 3.5" physical size.
