Question on 4 week old jumbo brown

When I go into clean my brooder they spook and fly up and hit roof of pen, my brooder is about 2ft tall and top is a mess so it gives but I'm worried they might hurt themselves any advice?

You will need to add something to the ceiling as at 2 ft they could hurt themselves. I've got some big bubble wrap attached to the ceiling of my Button quail cage as at night they like to flush upwards. Or you could attach something flexible a little lower than the ceiling to slow them down so they don't reach the ceiling. I'd always read that their cage needs to be 1 ft high or 6 ft. At 1 ft they can't get up enough speed to do much damage and 6 ft they shouldn't be able to reach the ceiling.
