question on a brand new hatched chick

Went to check the broody and the egg thats been hatching all day. The chick has its eyes closed, just laying there but peeping a lot. Mom pecked it a couple times but didnt hurt it. I moved it under her as she seemed more attentive to the eggs than the new chick. Should I be concerned. I may go out later and turn on the heat lamp although its not real close to her, can you tell its my first hatch.

I'm sorry I can't help you. All my eggs go in the bator. Hope everything turns out ok.

Very few harm their chicks.

Some die and that's natures way.
