Our Welsummer hens (2) have not been around a rooster in 45 days. We put them in the "love shack" LOL with Mr. Welsummer this morning. How long should we leave them with him for their eggs to be fertile before putting them back in the hen house(we can tell their eggs from the rest of our hens because of color.) Also how long will they be fertile? I have been told 30 days! Is that true? Please will someone that has been at this longer than me respond. THANKS

Best to check fertility by cracking open a few eggs, then leave the hens in there for a few more days. [IMG]

I believe once the roo is out of the picture, you might get fertile eggs for another 2 weeks.
