question on EE's color for chicken calculator

Silkies and showgirls also have rose comb, Fm, crest plus Na for naked neck for showgirls(most showgirls are Na na+). Color can be helpful, unless he is also black or white. (like if he is partridge, he can't throw "black downed chicks" with this hen but a BCM certainly can)

Check comb to see if it looks rose or walnut, any evidence of crest, dark skin (look at vent or under wing).. if it has none of that, then BCM prob a safe bet.

BCM are supposed to be gold birchin(I think- someone correct me if wrong).. use that for calculator, for now. s+s+ ER ER for a gold birchin rooster.

I'm trying to remember what a pea comb looks like at hatch. I can say with certainty that this chick does NOT have a straight comb

It is flat and wide but flesh color - not black. Will have to look at the vent later after I get them up for the day. The brooder is clear out in the garage. S/he does have a slate wash on the front of her legs like a maran might have. Hmmm will have to look to see what the other color was - can't remember if it was white or yellow.

ETA: Ok went and looked - no dark skin anywhere, legs are dark slate with just the middle toe on each foot and bottom being white. Looked at my other maran crosses (cuckoo maran X BCM) and her feet look just like theirs as far as coloring.

So I am going to assume that the black copper was the dad. YAY! Now for the "Is it a pullet or a roo ?" waiting game. Hmmm isn't there something to the amount of dark wash down the legs?

Next year I am building breeding pens. This year we added a dining room addition to our house, so there was no time for coop building.
