Question On Fan Direction For Incubator / Updated With Dry Hatch??????

You want air "moving around" inside so the temp will be distributed equally, so by mounting the fan to where it blows "against" the top (with spacers between the fan and the top), the air will go up, hit the top, and get spread out in all directions so there won't be "hot / cool spots".
PLUS.........by mounting it over one of the two big holes (at least on a LG), it lets you have more control of temp and humidity if you partially cover the hole like I am showing.

Hi! My fan (that came with the LG kit) blows down --- hot air from the top is pushed down toward the cooler bottom. That seems the logical way to distribute heat. I place the top (where the fan is mounted) above the turner motor to help disperse that heat.
I don't get the logic of the fan blowing up, but if it works --- great!

OK I've got the fan mounted and working. My next question is the temp is not keeping steedy. It is advereging between 98.0 and 100.5, is that normal and will I be ok or is there something I should do to get it more evened out and steady?

mine is a homebuilt bator but when I mounted the fan I blew it up at the roof of the bator so the fan would not blow directly on the eggs and dehydrate / shrink wrap them. I am mostly hatching quail they need slightly higher humidity , with this arrangement I have been able to get 70% + during lockdown

My thinking is that if the fan is blowing up, the air 'current' is pulling the cooler air from below, pushing it up against the top and back down and around. When my chicks hatch I can see their down drying and blowing around so the air does circulate around when pointed upward. I can see how the hot air rising and the fan pulling it down from the top works..makes sense but I didn't want the air blowing on the few eggs under it and not on the others.

I kina think that is the point of the fan to cancel out hot air rising cool air falling thermsiphoning thingy it distributes the heat more evenly (the fan) instead of allowing the air to layer . I also found a variable voltage power supply for my fan I can speed up slow down the fan that kina helps a little as well
