I'm having a hard time keep the ground squirrels out of the chicken feed . Does anyone have a good idea. They come in through the door and help themselves. They can climb to the food that I hang too. Thanks

Best solution I've seen is a Treadle feeder. You can buy them or there are plans on this site for making one yourself. What these are is basically a feeder where the chicken has to step on a spot to open a "door" so they can get food. Squirrels are too light to trigger it.

Thank you .. This looks like the best idea I have seen. I also sprinkled some Cayenne pepper around and a Little on the food.

My 4 cats cleaned out all our chipmunks that were stealing food and my WCBP keeps the cats in line, they are scared to death of her!

Thanks everyone . I ordered a treadle feeder . I hope that will work . I have a cat but to many for one cat . He is doing his best.

I have found that a pellet gun works wonderfully at controlling the squirrels who like my girl's feed. Then if I don't pick up the squirrel immediately the girls get a little extra protein.
