Question on Horse Feed

You know your horse. I prefer Sweet Feed myself, it is a product of having horses in Florida for many many years and down there with the sand and it hot and dry pellets don't work out so well.
Personally, I would get a bag of whatever you feel comfortable with for when you first get him back and then evaluate him and go from there. It sounds like you have good knowledge of caring for him.

That's so strange! We had the opposite issue with our guys. Our one horse was just downright nasty on sweet feed. He was acting more like a stallion then the nice calm horse we bought. A few weeks after switching him over to pellets, he did a complete 180 behavior wise. I love the darned horse now when before I wanted him gone! His head shaking has calmed down (He still does it during ring work every now and then because he HATES ring work) and he no longer bites, or pushes. I do think it was a combination of the feed and round pen work, but the feed definitely made a huge difference! However, I have had horses that were fine on sweet feed. Its what we used to feed all our guys until we got the new gelding. In reality though anything you get will be fine as long as you start slow.
