I am in the process of getting my LG up to steam and ready to hatch a shipment of 32 eggs. The temp is going how I want it, but the humidity is wanting to hold steady at 54 or so. Is this too high for the early going? If so, how do I drive it down?

NOTE: I have not added any water

All depends on how much air flow your incubator is getting. Just a really tricky question and almost impossible to answer, since every bator is different.

Its a springfeild, so it is a good name.

I wanted to update you all. At the moment, I am holding at 101.3 and 34% humidity. This is where it needs to be for a still air LG with no fan, correct? I am going to let it sit over night and see how it holds and play with it more tomorow if I need to.

Depends on the air flow. Where do you have the incubator? How much air flow does it get. Is it in a closet with no air flow or is it in a livingroom where a fan is running? See , that is why I say, there is no answer to that. You have to experiment and see what works for your conditions.
Earlier this year, I was having great luck with dry incubating but now that it has gotten warm and we are having a lot of rain, that incubating is not working as well, and I am having to experiment again.

Its been a good 20-30 minutes and the temp is holding at 101.3-5, and the humidity has calmed to 32%( still no added water ) I am going to let it ride overnight and see how close it is tomorow.

How much will the temp be effected when the eggs( 32 ) get placed in there, or will the thermostat kick in to keep the temp up? Will the humidity rise?

the humidity in my hova bator rose a little when i added my eggs. so it might. i read online that humidity should be 50% up until day 18 then it goes to 75% - ish.

last year i went by the bator instructions and looking back (had no hygrometer) it was probably WAY too high, like 80-90%!

i still had good hatches, but was stunned when i realized that, lol.

Your humidity is a little low. I keep mine between 30-40% (never let it go below 30%) day 1-18 and 50-60% days 18-21. I was keeping my humidity around 65% (at hatching time) for a long time and I wasnt getting very good hatches. Now that I keep in between 50-60% I am having 100% hatches in a LG still air incubator.
