Question on Marans leg color

I saw a post on another thread that Marans leg color should be white.
We got our Marans from Ray Valentine and I noticed that they don't have white legs, they have black or blue legs. Please note that these are Copper Blue and Blue Marans. I was pretty sure that he sold pure-bred Marans. So, is this leg color acceptable?


Also, for confusion sake, just how do you pronounce "Marans"?
Is it: muh Ran? or Mairun?

Which way is it said?

Cuckoos have white legs. My blues have white legs, my BC has a dark "wash' look to his legs, and the wheatens have white.
