We got two black sex links a little over a week ago and were told they were actively laying. Since we have had them there have been no eggs :( Chickens seem happy, they are eating and drinking well, using the nest boxes, getting treats and enjoying dust baths. Could they just be stressed? How long until they may lay? We are building a new bigger coop this week and I don't want to stress them more by moving them, would you suggest we keep them where they are until they resume laying?

I also have seen quite a few feathers the last few days and it has been so so hot, wondering if the heat, stress and perhaps an early molt are the issue.

Any help would be great!

Welcome to BYC!

Chickens who have been relocated to a new home, get stressed and stop laying. It's very common. It usually takes them anywhere from a week to a month for them to start laying again. Try and keep their lives as stress free and calm as possible.

We finally had success! 12 days after getting the two hens, we had one egg in the box this morning! It came from our head chicken Georgie, so hoping the other hen decides to lay soon. We have four more that won't lay until November so we were so excited to get an egg today!
