Question on partially hatched chick- Updated with pictures!

Not to be callous, but there is probably a reason this chick wouldn't pip itself out of the shell. I learned a long time ago that helping chicks hatch was not good.

If the chick isn't strong enough to hatch then it isn't strong enough to survive. All too often we humans let our compassion override God's will for these animals.

I hope your chick survives, but based on your photos I wouldn't bet the farm on that.

I agree with you, Jim.

Over the years I have learned it is best to let nature do its job. Having to cull a chick that has no quality of life is not a very enriching experience.

Trust me I agree, the rest of the hatch was fine on its own, but my husband couldn't stand listening to this one peep in it's shell. But guess who gets to take care of it.

I do believe in helping if the humidity has been whacky because of human error. But that was not the issue this time.

I wouldn't let him touch the last three eggs that had moving chicks going into the hatcher.
