Ok...so our hens are all who-knows-what egg layers without crests and the roo is a polish crested...my question is, will the chicks always have a crest? Will the chicks here have a crest? These are our first 3 chicks...and they look like they have mohawks!

This is our Roo when we first got him (in quarantine...now he's free ranging with the ladies of course)

Here are the chicks at 2 weeks old:

Also- any guesses on sex?

Too young to say gender (unless you've got silver hens around)

But in general they will indeed always have some sort of tiny crest in an F1 outcrossing from Polish, however, if your Polish has a smaller crest than one normally should or would, you may likely get chicks without crests too. One of my hatchery Polish has a small crest, and her one chick came out without any crest. It was that one time though, as any other Polish crosses of mine were from different hens or roosters.
