Hi all,

I have ten golden sex links, one white leghorn and two araucanas chicks that are all a week old. I'm only allowed to keep six so the rest are going to my sisters house when they're old enough.

I'm keeping the araucanas and my sisters taking the leghorn. How do I choose which 4 GSLs to keep, or does it matter?

I would say keep the healthiest and friendliest (to you and to the other chickens) ones. That's the only way to choose that I can think of.

Some farm supply stores sell colored leg bands for chickens. I think that would be the easiest way to tell the ones you want to keep from the ones you are giving to your sister.

I wouldn't bother with leg bands. You will know, when the time comes, which ones you want to keep. The ones you want to keep will change from time to time. Congrats on the chicks.

I hope I can tell them apart! So far there's a bossy red and a friendly light RSL, they're the only two I can identify. Thanks for your help! What age would you suggest I send my sisters chicks home with her?
