Question on starting my flock

Thank you all. If I just sell the live birds there shouldn't be any laws right? Only if I processed myself then i would need an FDA approved area?

Laws vary regionally. You would have to check with your local government. What's legal for me, may not be for you. There will be food/animal sales laws as well as local zoning regulations to look at. For example, where I live I am allowed to raise birds for personal use only and am not allowed to sell/operate a commercial agricultural business because my land is not zoned that way. If I were to be zoned in a way that allowed for animal and animal product sales then I would have to abide by the laws that govern those types of businesses, which vary regionally as well.

In a nutshell, it's ALL overly complicated, and do your research with your local government. Good luck!

Ok I will check. Guess I'm used to people just raising and listing on craigslist. ;)

Both, but mainly live. People will raide layers then sell, or like me, raise lambs and other livestock and then sell

Selling live is way different than selling slaughtered.
I've seen a lot of folks selling large 4 legged meat, they sell and deliver live to processor customer picks up and pays processor taking it out of growers hand.
