Question regarded food grade DE safety and mites on chickens

I have been adding DE to my feed for 10 week old pullets...... do I need to be concerned about this as I read in another thread that feeding calcium while they are young can lead to problems with calcium absorption later when they are laying? I love using DE in my livestock feeds (sheep and horse), I do believe it helps to control internal parasites. It may not be ALL you need, but I think it helps. Any thoughts you have on this question will be greatly appreciated.

Feeding calcium whe young can lead to organ damage or failure. I've never heard about it causing calcium absorption problems, however. While it is possible for DE to contain calcium, it does not typically.
