Question to the Guinea Folks

i raised mine from keets with chicks. hatched out together. they eat together roost together. but there is a little feather plucking that goes on from time to time but nothing major. its ok with me when they pick on the mean hens. l.o.l.

I have found that if you buy adults you need to keep them penned for at least a few days. Than let out one. It should come back because its friends are still locked up. Thank let out another the next day etc. Ours have always stayed. They are extremely hard to catch later if they are not in a building.

If you keep them penned up while they are young and then let them go about 5 months old or a little earlier they will stick by in your yard. But never let guineas out that have never been there before or the same thing will happen like that happened to your grandpa. It is tricky catching guineas when they get older and are freeranging. I just lure them into a pen with some scratch feed then catch them.
