Greetings all!

I have a barred rock that is 6 months old. She is not laying yet. I was under the impression she should be laying already. Is this unusual? Any advice?

What are your outside temperatures? She may not come into lay at the moment if it's very cold.

6 months is probably getting close. Late summer chicks often wait till spring. My barred rock did last year, she was 10 months old when she finally laid her first.

I am in TX. Temperature is fluctuating between high 30's to high 60's.
