After several years at our present location found ourselves inundated with Buffalo Gnats. It was a plague.

We found some relief by weed whacking the areas all around us EVERY YEAR. It was a very large area.

In addition we had to spray the horses every day. We discovered the gnats didn't like the shade or inside of the barn so we kept what we could in the barn during the day.
We only found permanent and complete relief, (so far after many years), when the vineyards moved in around us. They spray regularly.
Here are a couple of websites that may help. The second website talks about an organic spray that is available.
You may find some help from your local Government Department of Agricultural. Did i just say that ????
