Questions About DE

OK, got some DE. How much do I put down for the birds to dustbathe in? Do I mix it with sand? I bought a lot because I need it for several pests.

And I'll be posting further questions in other locations, to stick with the appropriate animals.

If I put it in a sandbox type thing will they go in there to dust bathe? Or should I just look for a place where they take dustbaths and put (how much?) DE?

How do you feed it to them for worms? Will they just eat it or do I mix it in with their food and again, how much do they need?

Any help on how best to use DE for maximum effectiveness would be greatly appreciated. I have lots of ants, there are fleas, and I think the chickens have mites as they are scratching.

I feed it to my chickens and the ratio is 2 1/2 pounds of DE mixed in 50 pounds of food. I also have the deep bed of pine shavings in my roost house and before I put the shavings down I spinkle a layer of DE on the ground, I also dust my laying boxes with it before puting in their shavings. In there dusting box I add a few handfuls to their sand and mix it up. Works well for me but will wait to see if anyone has better ways. Their are alot of people on her that I count on to when i need help
