what exactly is the proceedure?
The reason I ask is because my homemade bator will rise to 102 F if I completely close the lid, but if I leave it proped open with an index card (slight crack) the temp stays between 99- 100 F. Can I leave it cracked at lockdown. Do I HAVE to put the plugs in and completely close it tight? Cracked or closed I am able to keep my humidity stable without a problem. If I plug it, the humidity goes too high.

So I guess my question is can you leave the bator cracked open during lockdown or is is supposed to be completely closed up?

Thank you all for your help and support.

So long as the internal humidity is set to 65% (minimum), then having the top slightly open shouldn't be a problem.

You need good air flow for the hatch so I would leave it cracked open a little. The chicks could suffocate if you close it up tight.
