I looked for a thread about using chicken manure but didn't see one. Many people are using chicken poop as fertilizer but are you drying it before placing in your gardens? How are you collecting and storing it? Thanks!

Try a search adding the words composting manure poop. No need to dry it. it is recommended that you don't use it on anything you are going to harvest in less then six months.

I use my horse manure in the fall in the garden after everything is done, it's not hot manure and it sits in the soil all winter . Was gonna use the chicken manure In between the rows this year, but dh says the straw will encourage grass to grow in between the rows?

Chicken manure is very high in nitrogen. It is "hot" and will burn plants if applied fresh. It needs to be aged and composted before it is safe to put on plants. Spreading it fresh on a dormant garden would save the storing and composting step. Straw should for the most part never grow plants. The seeds are harvested and all that remain is the stalk.

I just toss it on my pile in the summer months. Helps accelerate the breakdown on high carbon products in the pile. In the winter, it goes straight on the garden. There is an ick factor on a growing garden as well.
