Questions about staggered hatches and humidity

Quote:
Yeah I did remove the turner trays on one side. The last hatch, I just took the whole turner out, and hand turned the eggs for a day or so. I had one chick get on the turner, and had its leg stuck in between. Now my turner trays aren't that close together anyway. I don't think it would have been hurt, but it scared me! I was just trying to get something else to use as a hatcher. I did put a light dimmer switch on my homemade one, which seems like it might work. Have to wait till night to see if it drops too much.

Idk. I don't see it in my box?

HMMMM, i sent it about 20 min after you PM'd me !!!!

My last hatch had 11 eggs. I tossed 2 of them, one with a blood ring, and one that was clear. All the rest of the eggs hatched!! I used my homemade hatcher. It has a light dimmer to adjust the temps, and it keeps temps better. It still goes higher and lower than it should, but these chicks just popped right out! No problem at all!!

I actually had 3 batches in a row that were failures. I thought maybe it was something to do with not being able to clean it properly. I don't keep the chicks in the bator for long after they would hatch, but I guess it would still get dirty. These eggs that hatched got put in a box with a light on them for a while, while I cleaned the bator, after I failed at the third hatch. The total for my 3 failed hatches was only 5 eggs though, so not that bad I guess. Oh and I have had one more hatch since these hatched. Don't remember how many eggs were set, but I had 3 eggs go into the hatcher, and 3 live chicks! I'll post pics in a bit, I have to get my son off the bus real quick!

Ok here are the ones that hatched from the 9 eggs out of 11 batch... (the one in the very front is from some I got after a hen left her nest)

I still need to get some pics of the newest ones! Will post those later.

I don't know what happened with the other eggs that I had, the 3 sets in a row that went bad. These last ones were in the bator when I cleaned it, so I don't think that's the problem. I have another set due on Halloween, that I saved from a broody. I guess she had too many eggs, and some got kicked out. They were ice cold when I got them, and 4 of 5 are developing! They look a few days behind, but at least they are growing and swimming around!
