I am new new to backyard chickens and have a Porcelain Polish tolbunt and a buff laced polish that were born on 5/8/18. I also have six other chicks. I’ve notice that these last few days the two polish kind of pick and fly over each other. I am unsure if they are roosters or hens. I still have them in the garage in a brooder with a red light which I’ll be switching to a infrared light as soon as it arrives in a few days. Could it be I have two Roos that are polish? I was told the one with the round top might be female as the other one has a top that is square if that makes any sense. We should have the outdoor coop ready soon however don’t plan on taking them out until they are all about 8 weeks. Please help! If they are Roos I can’t keep them in a Chula Vista. I appreciate any help. Also, when I do take them to their outdoor coop I read that I must keep them locked in the coop for several weeks. Is that correct? Thanks again everyone!

Chicks usually jumping at each other are just asserting their dominance and is common with all that chicks that young. They don't create their pecking order. Doesn't necessarily mean that they're males. I don't know why you would have to lock them in a coop for several weeks.

Can you post pics? I put mine outside in a fenced area at around 8 week and they were fine, I didn't have to lock them in their coop or anything except at night.
