Questions on broodiness

Have had birds go broody all year around, one I let set in a frigid Jan/Feb.

How did everything turn out? Did the eggs hatch? Did chicks survive?

Yup, worked out OK, but would never do it again.

I have also had broody's during different times of the year but mostly in the spring. Often times birds from hatcheries don't go as broody as often but of course there are always going to be some exceptions, but generally speaking.

Thank you! That is a great idea. This way I get to use my eggs until I see broody behavior. I was wondering if there was a time of year that broodiness was more likely. Spring or summer for instance. But since you say you have one broody at 25 degrees outside. I guess they can do it any time of year? Do you have a heated coop ?

Yes, my coop is heated- maybe she just doesn’t know it’s FREEZING outside! lol
