I'm in the Pacific NW. I have my chickens in a Noble Horse structure with event front bars across the whole front and doors that I covered in hardware cloth.
Last winter, I put a heavy weight clear vinyl shower to the front right side to prevent a draft on the roost that is level with the open front.
When we had the week of 90-100' temps, I cut the bottom of the curtain off, so they had some of a breeze coming in. Now that the temps at night are down in the high 40's, I lowered the curtain (zipties) so the top foot is now open but no breeze directly at them.
I like the clear vinyl shower curtains because they are easy to move/adjust with the zipties and I like the light they let in.
Noble structure after I added the hardware cloth to the bars - before run was attached to the right side.
With the run attached - prior to PVC pipes forming an arch and tarp added to provide shade and dry run.
