Hello,
yesterday one of my girls had a swollen eye that had bubbles and pus coming out of the inner corner. I immediately separated her from the flock and called up a local chicken farm to ask for advice.
The farmer suggested that I go to the feed store and inject her with 1.5ml of Tylan 50, then wait a week and see if she gets better. Then if she doesn't get better, give her another injection.
But I've been reading other thread posts and some people recommend giving injections everyday for 3 or 7 days.
What's the best way to go about this? Give her one large injection and wait, or multiple injections over a few days?

I give mine 1 injection and then a 2nd injection 3 days later. Just inject under the skin along breast bone. Don't want to stab straight into body and hit a blood vessel.

I use baby wipes to clean their eyes and then dribble a small amount of the Tylan 50 into their eyes. It usually clears them up...

Oh geeze... I injected her before I read your post and I stuck the ENTIRE needle in her breast at a slight angle (the needle was about an inch) now I'm sick with worry and dying with guilt thinking I caused her unnecessary pain :(
Her eye is still swollen today (a little less) she clearly doesn't want to move around and she has a bruise on her breast where I injected her :( am I a terrible hen mom?!? Ahhhhh I just hope I didn't make things worse for her!
