Hi, I just wanted to know since allot of people talk about the genes in crossing. What qualitites, or traits pass on from what parent to the chick in broiler meat chickens? the same for layer chickens.
What traits does the rooster pass on, and what does the chicken pass on?
For example for generation on line breeding the cornish cross, the male was a cornish and the female a white plymouth rock. Is there a reason for that, or would they have gotten the same chicken if breeding differently?
I appreciate the help with this, and please do provide any refference or more information if possible. Even experiences on breeding chickens to get the qualities needed more broiler chickens, and layer chickens. Thank you!
