Questions on window placement/how many and exterior color

I have all shade in my backyard and was wondering about window placement also. (The south side of the coop will actually be attached to an existing shed, so no window worries on that side) With this being said, does window placement even matter? Any advice is appreciated.

My coops are insulated so in the winter it is warmer than the outside temperature and my chickens don't like to go outside in the winter, we get a lot of snow. The south facing window is more for the light in the winter for better egg laying. We only get around 2 months of hot weather, July and August unlike in the South. So I guess it all depends on where you live.

I live in Mn and the coop will also insulated. Since the whole coop will be in shade and the south wall will be attached to another structure, I'm guessing it won't matter where the windows are located just so long as there are some windows for light.

On my big coop I have 2 windows on East and 1 on the South side and the door that is on the West side has a window in it. My coop is set in amongst balsam trees that serve as shade in the summer and a wind break in the winter. Everybody's situation is different depending on where you live and coop position so you have to do what works for you. Good Luck and
