questions re: pressure treated wood/ materials for coop

Oblio - grin...

And like Pat said, just give it a coat of waterproofing sealer. You'd probably want to do this anyways, particularly if you live anywhere where it rains or snows...

Just curious ....this is an intersting thread....why would the playgrounds for schools and public parks that were made from treated wood be changed over to plastic etc.? Wouldnt it be cheaper for the city to put sealer on the wood?.....

Just a thought, but if you get the untreated wood, there are also warnings to wear gloves and not breathe in the saw dust. I think this has more to do with splinters and lawsuits than anything. The older PCP treated wood is the stuff they are replacing in playground equipment. Notice they replace it with PT wood. PCP treated wood is rarely used anymore. Its main use is for heavy duty pallets (for outdoors) and some military wooden shipping containers.

Paranoia. Rumor. Unless you roll up the sawdust and smoke it, it isn't going to hurt you. If you ever witness these "lab tests" done on any number of products, you will sleep easier. California's sachrin scare--if you submerge a mouse in sachrin 24/7, it increases its chances at getting cancer. That was the "test" they did. So, unless you are smoking PT wood shavings, or bathing in sachrin, I don't think you need to worry about either causing you harm.

Hi everyone, you know it is really funny, most people are concern about polutions, dust from construction sites and co from cars and factories, I am also concern about that, what funny is that almost in every houshold or closed area ( like an Office/ store/ etc) there is more polution than outside, for example : I work in Construction, and ofcouse I use dust mask and gogels but I am more exposed to dust and co than my wife, and yet she can not tolerate the amount of polution I can, and seems to me that she get alergie way quicker than me.
