I have a question for you. do pet ducks not like to be pet or am I doing something wrong.
they are 3 weeks old and still screamlike I am pulling there tail feathers out

Sometimes ducks are wonderful pets and sometimes they aren't. If you want a really devoted pet duck, i'd try raising one at a time. That way it will imprint on you. But this is a big responsibility because they get upset every time you go away. They are social creatures.

But in terms of the ducks you already have, hold them as much as you can, and feed them treats out of your hand. They may get more tame and they may not. Good luck.

The flock I have outside wont come near me unless they think I have food. The baby I have inside, that I hatched follows me everywhere and likes to cuddle. I think it just depends how much individual time you have with each one starting at the youngedt age possible.

well I got these 2 the day after they were hatched I have been holding them and feeding them they come to me just can't stand to be pet or picked up.

I have 4 ducks got them spent Lots of time holding them they were sweet but I outed them with my chickens and my little hen went by them and they went afther her :-/
Just thorwing out there a random story :)

It takes time. My cayuga didnt want to be picked up at all for a few months. But then she started getting real low, still, and holding her wings in tight every time i would walk by hoping i would pick her up. My welsh h is 3 months and just now starting to let me pick him up easily. The cayuga hated pets... My welsh lets me pet him on the base of his back neck. I hear geese like pets way more. But i dont mind it... Ducks have ai much to offer i do t feel i need to pet them to bond. Just a tip... Always try to go in at their level or as low as possible and dont go to pet the by starting with your hand over their head. Its an instinctive response they have from above predators... Hawks, etc... And they wont like it. Even if youre mom. You can work them out of that over time, though.
