I am considering getting ducks. I don't have a pond, and I am totally clueless. Do ducks need water? (Is this question dumb?) If so since I don't have a pond or lake what do I get?

I have several of the plastic kiddie pools. ;) We have ponds but we have a lot of predators, so I'd rather they swim in their little pools.

No, ducks do not strictly need swimming water, as long as they have adequate drinking water. Lightweight breeds such as Campbells and Runners do especially well on land. However, all ducks enjoy swimming water, and do know that there are alternative options to a pond.

Thank you would a kiddy pool or something like that work?
A kiddie pool would absolutely work for ducks to swim in! Be sure to provide an additional source of drinking water, as swimming pool water gets mucky very very VERY quickly. The dux need clean drinking water constantly.

i wouldn’t let them into a neighbors yard, just keep them where you know they are for sure safe. preferably in a predator proof coop. while they don’t “need” swimming water i think it’s cruel to force them to go without it. in the winter it’s ok to limit their swimming days, but i try to let them have atleast a couple pool hours a day in spring

They don’t need it, but they love it. You will want to make sure it is small enough to dump every day or so, or something that can be drained and refilled. Ducks are MESSY!!
