Hi I am new to chicken keeping. I introduced myself in the new member section.

My question is If I want to hatch eggs but dont have an incubator can i just let the hen hatch them? Which way is more successful the hen or the incubator? I keep seeing people talking about the egg carton method. What is it?

Thank You
Leslie

If you type in the subject in the search box in the upper right hand corner of the page you'll find tons of information on what ever subject you are looking to learn about.

In addition to search, go to the Learning Center up top and read. There is a lot of basic information there.

Let me give you a few links that may help. The first two are on incubation and the third tells how one lady handles her broody hens. Both incubation and broody hens can be successful and both have their challenges. Remember while reading the third article, this lady probably has a totally different set-up than you so all her methods may not apply to you, but I find it an excellent source of basic information. As with everything on this site, you have to see how the advice and information suits your specific set-up and goals.
