I have 2 rhode island reds - 1 started laying 2 weeks ago - laid about 10 days and then stopped for a couple of days and then maybe an egg every 2 days now. why? is this normal? the other hen - not 1 egg so far... I am giving it time, but...

any serious clues? thank you.

Quite normal. It takes them about a month, once they have started laying, to get settled in, and it's also normal for them to start at different times. In addition, they may lay some odd eggs while adjusting to the whole laying thing.

Ok - thank you. thought it was normal but first time with chickens so I had to ask.
