Quick and easy calcium deficiency cure!!

I know this is an old thread, but my Ancona has not laid an egg for four months and judging by the color of her crown, she is calcium deficient. Also, she pecks the ends of other eggs. She doesn't touch the free oyster shell and is now not excited about eating anything other than greens. I had read but didn't offer the pulverized egg shells into my girls' diet, but I am now going to include it. I don't know what else to do.....

What do you mean by the color of her crown (like what's the crown, and what color is it when you can tell she is deficient)?

I understand Calcium Gluconate 23% is an alternative for treating calcium deficiency. I have been using it to help one of my runners who seems to be having trouble laying eggs (she has just come into laying age, and I'm really hoping that it's not an oviduct problem

). If you look it up on the forum, you can learn a lot more about Calc Gluc and if it's right for you and your duck.

The reason I ask what the crown is, is because my duck is going pale in the bill starting from the tip. She also seems to be getting a little more lethargic each day... nothing extreme yet--she's still eating and drinking, but lays down while the others are still being active. I've noticed that while resting she has been bobbing her tail since Sept. 1st. Since that was the only symptom of a problem, I've been watching closely for other signs before I took any kind of action. Now that her bill is losing color and she is getting tired earlier and earlier in the day, I'm trying to figure out what is going on.

Does it sound like my duck is egg bound?

She just came into laying age along with her sister and I've been getting about an egg a day for 2-3 weeks, random days without any eggs, and have gotten four soft ones. I cannot say which duck is laying these eggs. She doesn't seem bloated or anything. I started giving her calcium gluconate 2 or 3 days ago (about 1/4 teaspoon per day). I'm thinking I need to up the dosage. But since I'm inexperienced and doing a lot of guess work, I'm worried that it could be the calcium that is hurting her. Any advice is greatly appreciated!
